The third meeting of the Asia-Pacific Dengue Prevention Board (APDPB) was convened in Bangkok, Thailand, on 1-2 December 2007 to discuss laboratory-based diagnostics for dengue. The objectives of the meeting were to establish best practices for laboratory diagnosis of acute dengue virus infection among persons with febrile illness using available and newly developed tests, and to make recommendations to strengthen diagnostics capabilities in dengue endemic countries.
The Americas Dengue Prevention Board convened an interdisciplinary meeting in Mexico City, Mexico, for participants from 11 countries in the Americas region to discuss dengue surveillance. After hearing the technical and country presentations, the Board discussions led to identification of best practices for dengue surveillance.
El Consejo para la Prevención del Dengue en las Américas convocó a una reunión interdisciplinaria para participantes de 11 países en la región de las Américas para discutir la vigilancia del dengue. Después de escuchar las presentaciones técnicas y de cada país, el Consejo presentó lo que ellos consideraron serían las mejores prácticas para la vigilancia del dengue.
The Asia-Pacific Dengue Prevention Board convened an interdisciplinary meeting for participants from 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss dengue surveillance. The objectives of the meeting were: to agree on a common definition of dengue surveillance, to identify the purposes for having national and global dengue surveillance, to identify the stakeholders who would use dengue surveillance data and review their needs and concerns, to examine the key outputs or products of surveillance in relation to the users of these products, and to undertake a comparative analysis of surveillance systems between the countries represented at the meeting.
Meetings of the Asia-Pacific DPB in Thailand (December 2007) and of the Americas DPB in Brazil (July 2008) were held specifically to discuss laboratory diagnostics for dengue. The goals of these meetings were to establish best practice for laboratory diagnosis of acute dengue virus infections among persons with febrile illness using available and newly developed tests, and to make recommendations to strengthen diagnostics capabilities in dengue endemic countries.
The third meeting of the Americas Dengue Prevention Board was convened in Belem, Brazil, to discuss laboratory diagnostics for dengue. In addition to board members, representatives from various manufacturers of dengue diagnostics were in attendance. The goals of the meeting were to establish best practice for laboratory diagnosis of acute dengue virus infections among persons with febrile illness using available and newly developed tests, and to make recommendations to strengthen diagnostics capabilities in dengue-endemic countries.
La tercera reunión del Consejo de Prevención de Dengue de las Américas se realizó en la ciudad de Belem, Brasil del 28 al 30 de julio de 2008, con el fin de discutir las diferentes pruebas de diagnóstico de laboratorio del dengue. Además de los miembros del consejo, estuvieron también presentes diversos fabricantes de pruebas de diagnóstico de dengue. Las metas de la reunión fueron establecer mejores prácticas para el diagnóstico en laboratorio de infecciones agudas por virus del dengue entre personas con enfermedad febril, utilizando las pruebas de reciente desarrollo y disponibles, así como hacer recomendaciones para fortalecer las capacidades de diagnóstico en los países endémicos de dengue.
The Americas Dengue Prevention Board convened an interdisciplinary meeting in Panama City, Panama, to discuss dengue vaccine implementation. The meeting consisted of sessions focusing on the overview and review of vaccine introduction and implementation; dengue burden of disease and economics; clinical and field evaluation of vaccine candidates; and delivery strategies, markets, production, policy and financing. The goal of the meeting was to identify major issues for inclusion in dengue vaccine introduction strategies.
La reunión de la Iniciativa de la Vacuna Pediátrica del Dengue se realizó en la ciudad de Panamá, Panamá, con el fin de concentrarse en la implantación de la vacuna de dengue. En la reunión se realizaron sesiones en las que se repasó y revisó la introducción de la vacuna y su implantación; la carga de la enfermedad del dengue y la economía, la evaluación clínica y de campo de la vacuna candidata y las estrategias de entrega, mercados, producción, políticas y financiamiento. La meta de la reunión fue identificar los principales obstáculos en las estrategias para la introducción de la vacuna de dengue.
La quinta reunión del Consejo de Prevención de Dengue de las Américas serealizó en Medellín, Colombia. El tema de la reunión fue Comunicación de las Regulaciones Internacionales de Salud. La reunión estuvo estructurada para proporcionar un panorama general y estudios de caso sobre los tipos de comunicación de salud y para examinar a fondo el papel que las comunicaciones juegan en la prevención de la enfermedad y en la introducción de la vacuna.
